the Delft Student Big Band
The “Delft Student Big Band” is a group consisting of eighteen people that focuses on jazz and party music from the 1930s, 40s and 50s. 33 Years ago, a few jazz-loving students from Delft decided to set up a big band. Conducted by Matthijs Minderman, the band swiftly grew to the student big band of the Netherlands.
Over the years, the big band has built up a large and all-round repertoire, which has led to great successes on many occasions! Recognised by their orange bow-ties, the musicians of the Delftse Studenten Big Band often play on student parties, company events and weddings. The big band also plays outside the Netherlands in various parts of Europe, of which a yearly tour across the Côte d’Azur, Switzerland and Monaco.
For twenty years, the Delftse Studenten Big Band makes a tour along the French southern coast every year. For about two weeks every evening they give concerts for Villages, Hotels, Restaurants and for private parties. The concerts of the Delftse Studenten Big Band are always a great succes because of their songs, solos, dancing music but most of all their spectacular performance.
With a great deal of talent and with overwhelming enthusiasm, the band performs a great show time and time again. At the end of the evening, when the performance reaches its climax, no-one will be able to sit still. With well-known songs as Bad, Bad, Leroy Brown, A string of Pearls, Copacabana, Caravan and Minnie the Moocher the Big Band will create a fantastic atmosphere.
